The mission for Barking Gecko Arts? Creativity is a right, not a privilege.
When you invest in creativity for kids, you invest in a better future.

Creativity plays a vital role in student wellbeing, resilience and confidence while enhancing core subjects like maths and english. Integrating creativity into our children’s lives builds a versatile skill set preparing them for long-term success. A skill set for future well-rounded human beings.

Studies have shown that creativity is the third most required skill economically in the future. So we need to inspire high-net-worth investors to raise $5.2 million for Barking Gecko Arts to reach 50% of the state's children by 2028.

The IDEA - a poignant hybrid of authentic documentary and scripted drama, featuring the mascot Alistair and Gecko as a physical representation of a child's imagination. We follow a shy, isolated child as the mascots grow from a tiny, palm-sized companion into a larger-than-life presence, visually tracking her rising confidence as she discovers the arts. The message - Creativity is a right, not a privilege, and the ultimate ticket to a brighter future.

All interlaced with people sharing inspirational stories and evidence of these benefits through the eyes of the people who know it best: parents, teachers, children, teachers and psychologists.

Rhythm interviewed a range of storytellers, grounding the film in deep personal testimony and expert evidence of the neurological and emotional benefits of play. This project was developed hand-in-hand with Barking Gecko Arts to shift the community narrative and drive strategic investment.

WA children equipped with the creative tools to build a brighter future - MADE.
